Are these rewards exclusive to Kickstarter backers?

While standard retail editions of the story contained in this campaign will be available through traditional comic shops, bookstores, and other outlets where books are sold, the editions found in this campaign (including their exclusive slipcases and acetate sleeves) will only be available to Kickstarter backers.

However, Oni Press reserves the right to offer these limited Kickstarter editions through other channels at a later date, most likely if a limited tier does not sell out during the campaign in which it’s offered. Limited-edition tiers are strictly limited to the quantities declared in the campaign, and if offered elsewhere at a future date, the item will not be offered for any less than the original reward tier price.

How much will I be charged for shipping?

Shipping charges will be calculated through BackerKit at the end of the campaign as a separate transaction from your Kickstarter purchase. All shipping charges will be collected separately through BackerKit after the campaign ends with fees determined by your geographic location and shipping address. This method ensures that you will be charged the most economical rate of shipping based on your order size and delivery location. Please refer to the Shipping and Fulfillment section of the campaign page for additional details and shipping cost estimates. This shipping cost does not cover VAT taxes, tariffs or customs charges that may be imposed by your local municipality. The campaign supporter is solely responsible for those costs, and Oni Press has no ability to predict, collect or cover such charges. They are a form of governmental import tax, and Oni does not profit from them in any capacity.

Please keep in mind the shipping costs included with this campaign are ESTIMATES ONLY, based on shipping directly from the United States to the specified location. Please take these approximate costs into consideration when deciding which tier is most suitable for you. These estimates are derived directly from our fulfillment partner, based in the United States, to the specified destinations listed in the chart. Given that shipping costs are subject to fuel, freight, and other cost fluctuations, the figures presented here are merely projections and are subject to revision upwards or downwards, based on various real-world considerations at the time of shipping. Once you complete the survey, we will be able to provide the final shipping cost for your order.

How are shipping costs calculated?

There are numerous factors that come into play when it comes to shipping. It all depends on the time of the year, where we’re sending rewards to, sizes of shipping boxes, the weight of the boxes, fluctuations in shipping costs, and various other factors that are out of our control. We do our best to keep shipping costs at a minimum, but please take into consideration the box set tiers for this campaign contain over 30 lbs.+ of rewards. It’s important to keep in mind that heavier packages can greatly increase the price in shipping. Again, these shipping costs do not include customs fees, tariff charges, or VAT taxes, as those are the responsibility of the campaign supporter.

Where can’t you ship to?

While we can ship your rewards all across the world, there are a few places we can’t ship to due to embargoes and restrictions in place because of the government. Here is a list of countries we cannot provide shipping to:

My country requires a Tax ID or RFC. How do I figure that out?

For international orders, there are numerous countries that require a Tax ID or RFC number for the supporter or you will not be able to receive your rewards. The number depends on what country you live in. Look at your country’s international shipping information on your government’s website.

These countries will need a Tax ID number: Argentina Brazil Chile China Indonesia Mexico Saudi Arabia South Africa South Korea Taiwan Turkey

Countries that need an RFC number: Mexico

This information can be added to your shipping information after your Backerkit surveys go out–after the campaign comes to a close.

Why is there an extra charge for international customs?

International orders may be subject to additional VAT fees, tariff charges, or customs duties, which Oni does not collect in advance and are the sole responsibility of the buyer. Oni will not issue refunds or accept returns for any international orders that are declined due to VAT or customs fees beyond our control. Please refer to your country’s customs office to determine if there will be any additional fees associated with your pledge.

How do I provide my shipping information?

When the campaign concludes—and if it is successfully funded—Oni will reach out to all backers via BackerKit with a survey to collect all the necessary information for fulfillment, which will include shipping information. Those who have signed up with Apple IDs through Kickstarter will have to change their email address in Backerkit; otherwise, they will not receive further notifications.

Please make sure to use English characters for your shipping address to ensure our shipping department and couriers can deliver your rewards.

I’ve moved since the campaign ended. Can I change my shipping address?

Once surveys go out for this project, you will have an opportunity to change where the books are shipped to within a limited time frame.

Additionally, you can change these settings in BackerKit. In your BackerKit account, click “Settings” at the top of the page. Then, click “Update Address.” This will update your shipping details for all of your unlocked surveys.

Additionally, there will be a BackerKit survey confirmation link that was sent to your email after the campaign ends, where you have a chance to update your address. If you need this link to resent, please go to our survey recovery page. If you used an Apple ID to pledge to this Kickstarter campaign, you will need to have your email address changed, which you can do by contacting [email protected].

If your address is open, you will be able to see and click “Edit Shipping Info” to update your shipping details. Since project creators charged different shipping rates depending on the country/state, only our admin team can update this information.

Pro-tip: Some backers are able to get their country and state to change by updating their zip code!

If your address is locked, please contact BackerKit for assistance with your new shipping details for fastest resolution. To do so, in your survey, click “Need help?” on the top right corner, and then select “Contact Us” from the left sidebar to reach out to our team for assistance. There is a chance your mailing address will not be able to be changed, depending on when you reach out for assistance. Essentially, the sooner you reach out, the sooner we will be able to change your address.

When will I be charged for my pledge?

When the campaign concludes, if it has reached its funding goal, Kickstarter will charge you for your pledged amount. If any errors occur with the payment method you have on file, Kickstarter will contact you to address the problem.

If you include any Add-Ons or upgrades to your pledge, they will be charged separately through BackerKit at the same time your shipping charges are calculated and charged. This is typically several months after the conclusion of the campaign and approximately 6-12 weeks before items begin to ship.

Why haven’t I received any updates about this campaign?

Team Oni regularly provides updates on all of its successful campaigns, at least once a month following its conclusion. These will include status updates, special sneak previews at art and rewards, and any necessary information regarding fulfillment, including important dates. All of these updates can be found on the “updates” tab on the campaign page.

All backers will receive updates via the email address connected to your Kickstarter account. If you feel like you are missing these email updates, please double check your spam filter and add [email protected] and [email protected] to your email address book.

We also recommend logging into Kickstarter and checking your email notification settings. In your account, click the Notifications page and make sure that email and/or mobile notifications are turned on.

I noticed that pledges have been marked as fulfilled but I still haven’t gotten mine. What should I do?

Be sure to add [email protected] and [email protected] to your email address book to ensure shipment notification emails are not going to your spam folder.

After pledges are fulfilled, there is a 60-day window for backers to track their purchase. Once this window has closed, we can no longer guarantee fulfillment of your order.

I used Apple ID and didn’t receive my survey. What should I do?

This is a known issue. We recommend using an alternative email address for your account, but you can contact us at [email protected] with your full name, backer number, and the campaign title and we will resend your survey. Additionally, we can change your email address in Backerkit so you’ll be able to receive future updates regarding your order.

We do not have the capability to change your email address in Kickstarter, though. We STRONGLY recommend contacting Oni’s customer service team to change your email address in Backerkit if you use Apple ID to pledge for the campaign.

Fulfillment is taking forever, can I cancel my order? What is the refund policy?

Because the rewards for our Kickstarter campaigns are extremely limited and therefore expensive to produce, we are unable to provide refunds for any pledge that has already been collected. In addition, Kickstarter will be unable to process payments or refunds for expired credit cards. However, it is possible to cancel your pledges before the campaign concludes, because Kickstarter will not charge you until the campaign ends.

Team Oni prides itself on being fully transparent and realistic on fulfillment estimates, and we stand by the dates we provide in the campaign. However, there is always the possibility of problems outside of our control, such as manufacturer or shipping carrier delays. In those instances, we will always provide timely updates to backers with the most current information available to us.

How are the Oni Premium Direct campaign rewards different from what will be sold through retailers?

The Oni Premium Direct products are exclusively available through Kickstarter campaigns, due to their limited nature and bespoke, specially upgraded formats. That said, there will be retail versions of the product available through traditional channels. Because the production process can vary for the campaign’s prestige limited-edition items, it’s possible traditional retail versions of the product could arrive through traditional channels before the campaign rewards are fulfilled.

How do I pledge to two different reward tiers?

If you are interested in pledging to different unlimited reward tiers, you can add any unlimited items as Add-Ons during the campaign or afterwards through BackerKit.

If you are interested in pledging to a tier with limited quantities, we encourage you to do so as soon as possible as they may sell out. If you would like to pledge to more than one limited tier during the campaign, you will have to place two separate orders from two different Kickstarter accounts. If you go this route, we cannot guarantee combined shipping costs for the order.

However, if there are unsold quantities of a limited tier at the end of the campaign, we will make those available for Add-Ons through BackerKit.

Can I combine shipping?

Whenever possible, our fulfillment partners will combine shipping to reduce costs for backers. However, we reserve the right to send rewards in multiple shipments in order to protect limited edition items against damage in transit.

I don’t know what Add-Ons I want yet. Can I over pledge ahead of time and decide later?

You can pledge more than the reward amount and have those funds available to you later through BackerKit. When you fill out your survey, you can apply those funds to any available Add-On items. However, many of the Add-Ons from the campaign are limited to the Kickstarter campaign and can only be added while the campaign is running.

The reward tier I wanted is sold out. Is there anything I can do?

Due to the extremely collectible nature of some of our limited-edition reward tiers, once these are sold out, they are gone!

However, we strive to unlock new reward tiers if others sellout, so stay tuned to the campaign page for updates. Additionally, it’s possible customers could cancel or change their pledges during the campaign, so check back frequently to see if the tier you missed out on becomes available!

If I purchase an Add-On through BackerKit after the campaign ends, will I still receive the Stretch Goal rewards?

If I purchase an Add-On through BackerKit after the campaign ends, will I still receive the Stretch Goal rewards? Only backers who pledge to a qualifying tier during the campaign itself will be eligible to receive the related Stretch Goal rewards. Calculations for Stretch Goal rewards are made before surveys are sent out, so any additions after the fact will not count toward your eligibility for these bonus rewards.

For example, if there is a Stretch Goal reward unlocked for all physical orders but your initial pledge was a digital-only tier that you then added a physical item to after the campaign ended, you will not receive that Stretch Goal reward.

How will I get my digital rewards?

BackerKit will send any digital rewards directly to the email address connected to your Kickstarter account. Backers can always access their digital rewards through their BackerKit account or survey link. We encourage you to ensure your BackerKit account information is accurate during the campaign to avoid any hiccups in fulfillment. Our Customer Service Team is available and working Monday-Friday between the hours of 9AM – 5PM Eastern Time, so if you email over the weekend, you will not receive a response until the next business day at the earliest. We generally answer emails in the order in which they are received, and it is not possible to respond instantly or in real time (but we do our best to keep up)! So a good rule of thumb is that it may take up to 72 hours to receive a response, and we always recommend that you email us directly instead of sending a Kickstarter message, BackerKit message, or campaign comment (if you have a specific question related to your order).

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
